During a ceremony commemorating Journalists’ Day in Iran on Monday, Mehdi Karbasian, 67, hinted at leaving Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization due to retirement.

With a PhD in management from the University of Paisley in Scotland, he currently doubles as deputy minister of industries, mining and trade.

Based on a new motion approved in late July, member of the Iranian Parliament decided to ban the reemployment of retirees in state organizations of executive branch, Financial Tribune reported.

The law would not apply to heads of the three branches of the government (executive, legislative and judicial), vice presidents, deputy speakers of the parliament, members of the Guardians Council, ministers and legislators since they are deemed political management positions, according to IRNA.

IMIDRO is a state-owned holding company controlling a significant number of the country’s major mining companies, including but not limited to National Iranian Steel Company, National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Mobarakeh Steel Company, Zarshouran Gold Company, South Aluminum Company and Iran Minerals Production and Supply Company.
